WebNov 6, 2012 · The problem is that on these older pre-DCC locos the motor is not electrically isolated from the loco frame, as required for DCC. The solution to this offered by Fleischmann is a replacement motor shield made out of a non-conducting material (but without a DCC socket). You then have to direct-wire a decoder without socket to the motor. WebReplace the armature with a newer one, which has a flywheel. Fleischmann replacement part #504607 (Anker mit Schwungmasse). The new ones are slightly thicker and I’ve needed to add three thin washers between the armature electrical plate and the magnet. But, the result works very well. Buy a new motor from Fleischmann.
WebApr 1, 2015 · My conclusion: the decoder can RIP. I've ordered a replacement LokSound 54407. This will be my first sound decoder installation, and should be a pretty easy one since it's replacing an existing sound decoder. The decoder sits on top of the motor in the tender. Hi butler-henderson, The Point motors made currently have the wires coming out of the middle , these can be used left or right. the earlier versions had the wires coming out of the end and the point actuating lever would only fit in one end. Later ones have 2 brown & 1 black, the black again being the common. There will be a common feed on the momentary push buttons. They will work on AC or DC & have built in "end-off" switching.
