Reactive extrusion polymerization
WebApr 26, 1996 · Reactive extrusion is an attractive route for the polymerization of a cyclic ester monomer, without solvents, to produce high molecular weight biodegradable plastics. There is thus a need for an improved bulk polymerization process for economically producing aliphatic ester polymers. WebEvidently, Demongeot et al. observed that during reactive extrusion for an epoxy-resin system at 270 °C for 10 min, the accelerated degradation of PBT resulted in olefinic end group creation side reactions (esterification, etherification) and rearrangements through THF elimination, which further impeded vitrimerization.
